

More than 2,5 million people were affected by the severe impact of floods in Bulgaria in the last months with overall material losses amounting to more than $633 million according to estimates from the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
Homes, roads, and electricity and water supplies have been critically damaged in torrential rains – the worst for 50 years. Inhabitants of more than 23 municipalities have suffered from this natural disaster. Prolonged steady rains have caused dams and rivers to overflow and many towns and villages in the country have been deluged.
In five regions areas of arable land have been lost to the floods.
